Update on WSU recruiting storylines
Written by EC Rules

We've chronicled the four big story lines in this final week of recruiting. Here is an update on each as we head to the weekend. I'm sure stress levels are running high in the WSU football offices. Some key players are there for the taking if we can close strong. Priority number one has to be Asante Cleveland but it looks like it's out of the hands of the staff at this point. Let's hope the players are hitting him on text and facebook. He's a key to this class.

1) It looks like Asante Cleveland will not have a decision before the weekend. He is apparently having a family meeting to talk through both schools and then will announce a decision after that. This one is going to go right down to the wire. How do you think Deone Bucannon feels right now? Cleveland convinced him not to trip to ASU a couple of months back and now it might turn out that Cleveland is headed elsewhere.

Hopefully the Cleveland family comes to the conclusion that academics when comparing a school like Miami or WSU comes down to the program that you choose and not schools in general. Hopefully they also realize that if Cleveland wants to work/live on the west coast he'll be better served at WSU and if he's looking for a collegial environment that maximizes student support and growth outside of the classroom he'll choose WSU.

2) Scott Crichton has chosen Oregon State. Interesting to note that Oregon and UW both came running in this last week to offer him. He looks solid to OSU. This is the type of player that we need to be winning in the future. Not that we should complain, on the whole this class is filled with great prospects that WSU can win with.

3) The defensive tackle situation continues to evolve. Julious Moore is definitely visiting this weekend and we should be in prime position to get a verbal from him. We should be more fixated on the academic plan for him and whether he's a lock to get into school. If he does, it's a huge pick-up for us this late. Looks like Goggins is saying that Baylor and Syracuse are recruiting him the hardest and USC and Boston College are coming in late. This is the guy that I'd love to have over Mahoney. It will be interesting to see if we land one or both of those JC dtackles. I would feel good about 4-6 wins next season if we land both.

4) No news on surprises. Should be a fun final weekend and signing day. Let's cross our fingers for Dargan on Signing Day. His Mom is known to favor WSU and it can't hurt our chances that an Oregon player just got the crap kicked out of him and was in critical condition at the hospital and that they are dealing with a possible theft involving two prominent players. Let me be clear, both of those things stink overall….I'm just saying it can't hurt our chances when we've positioned Pullman as a safe and focused environment where you can put school and football first. The fact that UCLA is located in a major urban environment and I get the impression that Neuheisel is really pushing some other priorities against big hitters. He just pulled a big time dtackle away from LSU. Let's hope they have backed off Dargan a bit.

I would be ecstatic if we landed Dargan at this point but otherwise I see this class a great building block for the future of the program.
